Obama sympathizes with Muslim radicals
By Phil Kent
It is a national outrage and disgrace that New York City’s leadership, typified by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, supports the construction of a radical Islamic mosque/community center two blocks from Ground Zero— a sacred site where almost 3,000 Americans were murdered in a radical Islamist terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001.
President Barack Obama on August 13 endorsed the mosque site, although he later tried to back away from his remarks after public outrage exploded. His initial speech to a Ramadan dinner in the White House, though, was typical talk from a multiculturalist who fawns over Muslims while ignoring the presence of an Islamic fifth column in America that represents a grave national security danger.
“(W)e can only achieve ‘liberty and justice for all’ if we live by that one rule at the heart of every religion, including Islam— that we do unto others as we would have them do unto us,” Obama said. But no religion can be just simply reduced to following the Golden Rule – especially not Islam and certainly not radical Islam. The Koran contains numerous passages that can incite followers to violence against non-believers. Yet multiculturalists believe all religions and cultures are the same. The imam and his followers seeking to build the 15-story Cordoba House near Ground Zero as a symbol of their “supremacy” over the American “Satan” are no doubt privately laughing at how weak the United States is becoming.
Just as explosive as Obama’s initial defense of the mosque site is that its leader, Feisel Abdul Rauf, says the U.S. is “an accessory” to the Sept. 11 attack. The imam refuses to condemn Hamas terrorism, hobknobs with America haters and believes medieval Sharia law should be imposed everywhere. Yet Obama touts Rauf as a “moderate.”
Rauf – get this!— has been touring the Mideast at the expense of the U.S. taxpayer as an envoy for the State Department to promote U.S.-Muslim “understanding.” What a joke! (Where is the American Civil Liberties Union? Why isn’t it suing the federal government for subsidizing the trip of a religious official?)
If the “moderate” Rauf and his flock are supposedly sensitive to the pain of the families of 9/11 victims, why didn’t they simply plan to construct their mosque elsewhere in the city? It is because they know building it near the murder site is an insult to the United States. Indeed, Islamists have historically built mosques next to churches in areas they have demographically subjugated or physically conquered. They have also turned Christian church property into mosques as a symbol of domination over the hated “Crusaders,” as they derisively refer to Christians and Westerners in their propaganda.
Patriotic Americans in their gut know that this mosque issue is not about freedom of worship. You cannot build anywhere you want in this country, and sensitivity to local concerns must be shown. That’s why, for example, liquor stores aren’t allowed near houses of worship and schools in most American communities.
There are signs that Islam’s record just with regard to women is separating thinking liberals and feminists who believe in Western-style civilized society from their previous support for Obama’s mindless multiculturalism. Indeed, polls reveal that the mosque uproar united most Americans— Democrats and Republicans, even blacks and whites— against Obama’s initial remarks. Politically, the Obama administration’s support of Rauf will only serve to enrage more voters against Democrats– thus hurting their chances of retaining control of Congress in the fall elections.
