Nobel Prize Celebrates a Neutered America
By Phil Kent
When the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Barack Obama by a left-wing Norwegian panel, it was a calculated, celebratory hope that the new president of the United States would no longer lead the free world or defend Western culture.
The prize-givers, who decided upon the recipient 11 days after Obama’s inauguration, cited his support for the United Nations and “peace.” Primarily, though, the Nobel citation ominously underscored that Obama’s “diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.”
That translates into an attack on any America-first foreign policy. The Nobel leftists are honoring someone they hope is willing to let his country simply merge into the majority of thieves and tyrants who make up the godless United Nations.
It is instructive that Obama’s award came just before the American celebration of Columbus Day— a holiday under attack by multiculturalists who hate our “One Nation Under God” built upon the foundations laid by white settlers who followed in the footsteps of the brave European explorer Columbus. Our civilization did not invent slavery or racism or disease as some guilty white Norwegians or Third World dictators believe. The Western Christian culture birthed in North America evolved into a modern civilization that addressed those problems.
Thomas Bowden of the Ayn Rand Center for Individual Rights underscores that the Industrial Revolution in America “employed science, technology and engineering to create material goods in profusion so that even people of average ability could become affluent by historical standards. By demonstrating that wealth can be created in abundance rather than being stolen by armed force, America and the West supplied a moral alternative to the bloody tribal warfare of past eras.”
Yet a worldwide amoral elite who support the United Nations and hate traditional America work tirelessly to undermine our Eurocentric culture and law. Commentator Rush Limbaugh notes that, with this Nobel award, “the elites of the world are urging Obama, the man of peace, to…basically continue his intentions to emasculate the United States. They love a weakened, neutered U.S.”
Significantly, as Obama was thanking the Nobel committee, his “diversity officer” at the Federal Communications Commission was coming under fire for actually saying that white Americans must “step down so” “more people of color, gays” and “other people” “can have power.”
The late columnist Sam Francis mused that maybe there should be a “European-American Heritage Month” celebrated primarily so school children could learn about the awesome accomplishments of those who built a young constitutional republic into an economic powerhouse the envy of the world. Yet on second thought, he felt the problem with such a month is that “it demotes and distorts the paramount role of European-Americans in creating American civilization to a role of just one more color in the multicultural rainbow.” (By the way, when then-Virginia Gov. James Gilmore actually proclaimed such a month a parade of ethnicities went berserk – calling it “racist.”)
Patriotic Americans, especially independents in the political “center” who sway elections, must think long and hard about why this Nobel Peace Prize was bestowed, and about Obama’s emerging multicultural policies. Indeed, will the next three years of his term see the acceleration of a neutered America in world affairs? Or can massive citizen resistance apply the brakes on Obama and the political Left as they strive to move our country toward the warped “values” of the world’s “majority”?
